Notice that Doug is still near an athletic field! Our guide, Mary, will be taking us tomorrow to meet Nyah around 11am so for those of you in the US, when you wake up Monday morning, whether it is 2am or 9am (it is a holiday kids... let the adults sleep in!), we should have pictures.
Our hotel is nice... the room is bigger than the room in Hong Kong and bigger than the hotel I stayed in during my last trip here. At the same time, it is much more formal so that offers new challenges when you will have TWO children with you for 5 days. It is in the middle of the city and on the major road (named "August 1" after the Nanchang uprising that led to Cival War and is now considered the anniversary of the People's Liberation Army) so going out for a stroll is not really an option and no play room. There is a pool though and Caleb did try it out today but he had to take a warm shower after because the water was so cold; now I know what will make him bathe!

Caleb had a hard time staying awake at dinner and is asleep. Then again, so is Doug. We told Caleb he was letting his public down not doing a blog entry! And since Doug didn't mention food today, I will... we ate at the hotel's Western Style buffet though not much of the food was food you would see at Golden Corral (which made me happy but Doug, notsomuch). Caleb ate ice-cream for dinner (and a token piece of watermelon) and giggled a lot when he saw that Grandpa's shrimp had eyes. And Doug made huge progress... he ate his potatoes with chopsticks though I had to tell him that stabbing your food is not proper etiquette.
Nanchang's population is around 4 million and is considered a medium size city for China since you have to have 6 million to earn the large label. Our guide, who graduated from the local university in 1985, gave us a historic overview of the province. There were many details but the big ones are that the Jiangxi Province is mostly agricultural (rice especially) and is one of the poorest provinces. So Doug gives you all the sentimental stuff and I give you a history lesson! But as some say, opposites attract!
Make sure you visit Jodi's blog... her family is in our travel group (she is in a different province now but we will meet up in Guangzhou) and she met her daughter today, a day earlier than expected! I have been stalking her blog waiting for pictures.
Of course, more, much much more, tomorrow...
Kate

Big day tomorrow!!! Good luck and post lots of pics. Love, Meg
I know you must be excited, nervous, thrilled al at one time...we are too! I cried reading Doug's post remembering when I learned about Brynn's adoption and being so excited to be able to help you when you returned home. I will miss being there this time (at least in body, I am wih you in spirit).
I am thinking of you as I hear there has been an earthquake...hope all is fine and praying it was far north of you!
Pat says hello and says he misses you all and hopes to see you again soon.
Hope you all are having a wonderful trip. So proud of you both for having such big hearts!
Guess you know Doug WE WON! Although Concord's game was ugly 77-14 glad that is over Jeff played the whole game! Bride and groom are happy and thank-you for your help! Can't wait to meet the new addition to your family. Children are a joy and raising them is such a privilege that God has given us!

I am not going to be able to sleep tonight! I may be the one up at 2am checking your blog...
I am in tears what a sweet husband. I think that we or especially I forget how this affects our husbands. I am very outward about my emotions and feel very comfortable sharing and even crying in front of others.
I am been so amazed by the amount of people in this country and saddened by the vast amount of poverty. You look around at the govt owened buildings but realize that is just in the middle of the bigger cities. There is so much poverty outside the city streets and I can't even imagine the countryside. Just a few more hour and we will have our sweet daughters in our arms. I have got to go back to sleep!!!!
Hey! I am a friend of Sherri's and I am writing to all of you while you are suppose to be asleep! But who can sleep with all this joy and excitement! Praying for safe travels and lots of fun for all of you, Karen
Kate,
Cali is doing great! It is your turn. I know you have done this before but it was still SO incredible when they put Cali in my arms. God is so good, I did post pics to our blog! Today will be a great day for you all! Love Jody
I'm just not going to be able to sleep tonight! I can't wait to see Nyah. I pray for a smooth transition. Post lot's of pictures. I hope Nyah gets her bear back that way we know for sure our girls shared a house.
Hi Kate,
Congratulations on Gotcha Day! You must have Nyah by now. We are in Nanning and we will leave to get Addison at 3:15. Can't wait to see you and Nyah in Guangzhou!
Karen
Okay the word at my house is when are they getting Nyah Kate. I know we aren't even close to having the same butterflies as you all, but just wanted to let you know everyone back home is waiting with baited breathe.
By the way, love the fact that you are staying on a street that is the same as Carter's birthday!
FYI to Doug.......Dwayne said Jeff Foxworthy wants to thank you for his next big red neck joke "You might be a redneck if you think stabbing your food with chopsticks is actually the right way to eat with them"
