Not a great day for Nyah. It started with a terrible night of sleep... she cried in the middle of the night (a first) so I put her in the bed with me but she was all over the place so neither of us slept well. She felt hot so I stuck a thermometer sticker under her arm so I could check it at the first signs of daybreak. She had a slight fever (less than 100) when I woke her and she did not want to be awake.
She clung to me the entire walk to the medical appt. and screamed bloody murder being weighed and measured (19.8 lbs) and having her body examined. Guess what? They let me know she had a fever... and you would think it was a big one by the reaction there but is was 99.
The only time she didn't cry was when she was on my lap in the ear/mouth check room... and there she shut down. For five minutes she didn't respond to squeaky toys and tambourines inches from her ears and then just as the Dr. was trying to call our guide over to inform me that Nyah is deaf, she must have flinched enough to pass the test. This is the girl who dances when music is playing so I wasn't concerned and I agree with her, the doctor was a bit scary with his glasses, mask, and satellite-dish looking thing on his head.
We were only at the zoo a short while which was perfect because Nyah was not up to it. She fell asleep at lunch and just as I finished, she woke up crying and inconsolable. The rest of the day has been spent in the room, on the bed. She has slept off and on, screamed off and on, ate a cracker off and on. She is miserable. In the picture she is holding the liquid tummy calmer (it didn't work).
Hopefully back to the fun stuff tomorrow.
Kate

Sorry to hear that you have had a rough day of it. I think our two are already linked, as we just found out Cayden has double ear infections, so believe me when I can honestly say I feel your pain.
Sleepless nights aren't fun, but I know with your TLC she will be on the mends soon.
Cayden weighs 21 pounds and is 13 months, so that should help you with where she falls in line.
Waiting for the next update.
I hope she is feeling better today. All kids have those days, but they still break the Mom's heart.
I agree, what the heck was that satellite-dish looking think on his head. And can't these people smile around here!!! LOL!! You are funny! I am enjoying getting to know you. I just wish I could have sat still long enough to talk at lunch.
Oh, Kate, I am so sorry. I know it is hard to be half a world away and have a child not feeling well...I am praying for a better day today for you!
Saw your hubby fly by today so I guess he made it home safely. Hope his jet lag isn't too bad~
Oh, poor sweet girl! (And poor Mommy, too!) My heart goes out to her. All of this change and uncertainty with a bug on top of it all. Hard to find the comfort she needs in a hotel room after all that poking and prodding. Stupid doctor, too, about to tell you she's deaf. How do spell a big ol' raspberry?
Sorry you had such a rotten day, Kate. I hope you and Nyah are both feeling better soon and get a much-deserved good night of sleep!
Love,
Stace
Oh gosh, I am so sorry she is sick. But at least she is with you! And this probably explains her behavior from yesterday! I know my girls always get extra clingy and sometimes a little too dramatic! :) Your daughter is precious! She looks like a doll in her purple chinese dress. I hope she quickly gets better and you too with your cold! Soon you guys will be home and with your own germs you are already used to! Take care!
Poor Nyah. And Poor Mom. I'm sorry Nyah is feeling bad- her little eyes even look sick in her picture. I hope that today is a better day. She is just beautiful!!! I know you will be happy to get home. As excited as I am about our trip, I really just want to get Cate and come home! I'll be checking back in with you! Love, Kim
Sorry to hear Nyah isn't feeling well. You can see it in her eyes. Hope you are feeling better.
